The best weight loss program is the one that works for you.

Not what worked for your Mom or your neighbor, but specifically for you.

In order to understand your best weight loss program, first you need to understand what somatotype (body type) you are.

While everyone will lose weight by cutting calories and moving a bit more, you can tailor your weight loss (or gain if you need it as an ectomorph) by knowing whether you are a mesomorph, an endomorph or a hard gainer (ectomorph).

Take the time to work out where you fit and you’ll save time on your weight loss program.

Hi rosie, it’s interesting to see the endomorph, ect. After doing some reading, i’m certain this is true. I’ve always had to work harder to accomplish more weight loss, diet, ect.
I’ve now lost 65 lbs. in the past 9 months, however anyone on a 1600 calorie diet, walking 3 to 4 miles a day, would have lost more. I’m happy, however trying to “jump start” the last 50 lbs.
What got me on this path was the 6 week body shaping. which is really, 6 weeks of eating for your body type.
I have a great diet, would do the 6 week thing, however could do it on my own and take out coffee, milk products, sugar and salt, however could you please give me, if you have them, the combination as to what to eat and when, every 3 hours?
An example is it appears their are some fruits and vetables you shouldn’t eat, to promote weight loss and the “burning”, any help would be appreciated. otis

Hey Otis, I’ve sent an email to you in response to the ones you sent me – I now know your extra circumstances, but for anyone else reading your comment here with similar questions, I’ve posted a copy of my first reply to you here.

I wouldn’t give up red meat – it’s a great source of protein. Just keep it really lean and you can eat quite a bit of it.

I’d go for a glass of skim milk instead of the cheese for breakfast, cause you do still need some dairy.

To shock your body into losing a little more, I’d be cutting out the sandwich in the afternoon and replacing it with something like a protein bar (careful on the sugar content, you need a brand from a health food store or body building supplement site rather than from a supermarket) or go for a large apple.

As for lunch, if you have a piece of bread or potatoes or rice or pasta with lunch, cut that out.

Try to cut out carbs after lunchtime except for leafy steamed or raw veggies, so at night, you should avoid potatoes, bread, rice, pasta, couscous, all those good fillers.

As an endomorph, you may well not be pushing yourself as much as you could with exercise.

Ramp up your cardio a bit, for example by increasing the incline on your treadmill or finding some steps or hills on an outdoor walk and doing 10-15 minutes more a day or increasing your speed a bit.

You can get a similar fat burning effect with weights, but cardio is more straightforward.

Give it a go for a week or two and monitor how you get on!
